Kathleen Wong Bishop and author Leslie Hayashi followed their dream in first grade to create books for children. Kathleen is a popular speaker and has taught thousands of children about the art of illustration. Students laugh as they learn a lot about book publishing.
Kathleen's entertaining talk includes:
- How books are created, including the four fable books that are excellent for character education, see Teacher Resources.
- Illustrations are edited like writing.
- Research is fun, with bugs and shells. Great science information, including marine life, deep ocean, and endangered animals.
- Learn new things with practice, patience and concentration.
- Stories come alive with crab, fish, octopus and turtle puppets.
- View original watercolor paintings.
Talk lasts 30-60 minutes, with 15 minutes between sessions. 1/2 hour needed for set up.
